Pearcea Black Edge Ecuador

Pearcea Black Edge, also known as Pearcea Imlayana, is a striking houseplant recognized for its unique foliage.

Origin:

This plant is native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, where it grows in the understory of tropical rainforests. Its natural habitat is characterized by high humidity and filtered light, contributing to its distinct appearance and growth requirements.

Care:

1. Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause leaf burn.

2. Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot.

3. Humidity: Thrives in high humidity. Aim for levels above 50%. Consider using a humidifier or placing the pot on a tray of water with pebbles to increase humidity.

4. Temperature: Enjoys warm temperatures between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect it from cold drafts and extreme temperature fluctuations.

5. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture. A blend of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark works well.

6. Fertilization: Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer.

7. Pruning: Remove any dead or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth and maintain the plant's appearance.

With the right care, Pearcea Black Edge can flourish, adding a touch of exotic beauty to your indoor space.
